As an industry on the brink of making technological innovations in 2019, many companies are emerging that have the potential to push Mobility into a new era of dominance in travel on a worldwide scale. Companies from all over the world are spearheading the movement towards a MaaS integrated future and many, in the future could work alongside each other to create a fully optimised city travel infrastructure.

Sway Mobility

Sway Mobility are an America-based company who provide a Car-sharing travel platform for companies, neighbourhoods and cities alike, pushing forward a more cost-efficient and environmentally friendly solution to fleets both from a public and private perspective. By realising the need for new carshare solutions to accompany the growth in need for travel, Sway Mobility hold a potentially critical space in the future of America’s own Mobility as a Service.

Oxbotica

Based in Oxford, England, Oxbotica are one of the leading companies involved in the development of autonomous vehicles. Being one of the leading companies in such a popularly debated topic they are already making serious impacts in the world of Mobility as a Service as well generating a lot of exposure over the benefits that a revolutionised travel model can provide. Oxbotica have targeted a soon-to-be lucrative market with the capability to work alongside multiple other mobility services to create the future of smart mobility and smart cities.

SHARE

As a company providing subscription based Micro-transit services, SHARE is a pioneer in American-based travel solutions. By conducting their own research into how much time is wasted when travelling by private vehicles they create a very convincing case as to why their micro-transit services are an upgrade from traditional travel standards. Already having crossed into industries such as the healthcare and education sector SHARE is already growing and heading towards becoming a major competitor for MaaS friendly travel solutions.

AppyParking

AppyParking, a UK-based company who have developed a platform to optimise parking within busy cities. To better improve a poorly-designed parking system, the team at AppyParking have introduced a new ‘park as you go’ scheme for fleets involving real-time updates on parking availability and prices. Providing detailed analytics, kerbside restrictions all in one app provides business travellers much-needed updates on how to park and plan their ventures efficiently. AppyParking holds real potential to work in conjunction with other MaaS driven companies to provide full travel solutions accompanying all micro-details of the journey from route planning to parking availability.

Smove

Moving toward the East we have a company named Smove from Singapore who are a Car Rental company providing valued rental solutions in oppose to private ownership of cars. Smove provide customers with a range of different rental options categorised between Saver and Premium. These categories provide the customer with different models of car, meaning the customer has freedom and flexibility when making their decision. This company is one of the many enterprises that are encouraging a shift from privately hired vehicles to MaaS friendly car rental solutions and with businesses like these we should expect to see the number of privately owned cars be greatly reduced in the coming years.

These few companies are just a small number of initiatives that are promoting the development of Mobility as a Service and as the future continues and the concept becomes more heavily debated, we should see many more companies appearing to help push the creation of a better managed travel infrastructure. Hopefully, we will see many of these enterprises working amongst each other to create the most effective and optimised Mobility as a Service solution that is possible, increasing daily life quality for commuters all over the globe.
